A Letter for my Students - MGS

And then, they were gone...

The lovely faces...
The sweet voices...
The warm laughter…
The chatter in the classroom...
The English room suddenly becomes cold...
And the ten months suddenly seems too short.
I am left again with the chalk dust…
I look at the empty arm chair.
You used to sit there silently reading your notes...
or pretending to be...
I heard you giggling holding your cellphone...
while a classmate erased the writings on the wall...
I saw you carrying the garbage bin...
I watched you sweeping the floor...
I felt your tears when you had a fight with your friends...
I saw you run inside the classroom
When your other teacher suddenly came announcing a surprise quiz.
I heard you picking on your seatmate who always asked for 1/4 sheet of paper...
I heard you beg to be included in the list of
training participants...
I saw you sweat while scratching your head when you couldn't answer a question.
I heard you scream for joy when you passed the
test...
It's all I could do now....seeing you in my mind
and heart.
Because you have to go forward.
But I trust that you will continue to grow and
glorify God in everything you do.
I will recharge this summer and
will be praying that you will all be safe and
strong in the world outside the classroom.
You are allowed to forget me.
But you're not allowed to forget why you came to school...
God speed, my beloved students.
I will never forget you,
No matter what. I promise.
