Bootlickers: A Silent Threat to Growth in the Workplace.  In every professional organization, two distinct paths to advancement emerge. Some employees rise through the ranks based on merit, competence, and tangible results. Others survive and ascend through sycophancy, commonly referred to as "bootlicking." Sycophants do not challenge the status quo, nor do they introduce innovative ideas. Instead, they habitually validate, praise, and echo every directive from leadership, regardless of its efficacy.
