Aging Yet on the Goal

Kringgggg!   The piercing alarm commands the dark, A noisy, sharp, onomatopoeic spark. It calls me to arise, to stand, to wake, For another day of school and minds to make. Fifty-four years old today, Oh My God! I look into the glass and softly nod. "You aren't that old yet," I smile and sigh, With a little chuckle as the dawn creeps by. "Come on, feet, stand up!" I coax and tease, The shower waits, though I would rather freeze. My body shivers, unready to get wet, Perhaps a cup of coffee is a better bet.
