The Teachers' Encore

In the dimming spotlight of her final act, The last full show for a teacher worn thin, It's too late to unveil the talent she hoards, Yet hope clings like a stubborn refrain— She yearns to linger, to stay in the fray. Once lazy, unmotivated, adrift in the tide, Now diligent, resilient, forging ahead, A phoenix from ashes, or merely a mask? Does she love the craft, the spark in young eyes, Or is it a show for the job's endless chain? She doesn't want to retire, to fade into night, Her encore unspoken, her passion a riddle, In the classroom's echo, she dances alone, Hoping the curtain won't fall just yet.
