Flowers will dry, and never bloom,
Thorns of roses multiply, a silent gloom.
Heavy rains, floods, and storms sweep away,
Lightning and thunder create a cliff where we sway.
No lips turn red,
No eyes blink with glee,
Hands frozen in cold,
A heart’s plea to be free.
Teddy bears burn, their softness now lost,
Rings grow rusty, love’s warmth at a cost.
No chocolates, no candies,
For those who desire,
Toothaches to die,
In a world grown so dire.
Balloons run out of air,
As flyers wave on that day,
February 14,
An official block-out, they say—
No Valentines!
