Aging Yet on the Goal

Kringgggg!  The piercing alarm commands the dark,
A noisy, sharp, onomatopoeic spark.
It calls me to arise, to stand, to wake,
For another day of school and minds to make.

Fifty-four years old today, Oh My God!
I look into the glass and softly nod.
"You aren't that old yet," I smile and sigh,
With a little chuckle as the dawn creeps by.

"Come on, feet, stand up!" I coax and tease,
The shower waits, though I would rather freeze.
My body shivers, unready to get wet,
Perhaps a cup of coffee is a better bet.

I smile and rotate my head around,
From left to right, to see what strength is found.
It turns with ease; my head is giving still!
I raise my hands to test my moving will.

I shake my hips, I twist, I strike a pose,
I shake it out from shoulders to my toes.
Kick out the left leg, kick the right leg high,
Both legs are giving time is passing by!

This exercise ensures I will not age,
A graceful spirit on a changing stage.
It keeps my morning moving, on the go,
Ready for the daily workplace flow.

Five more years until my time is done,
Retirement has not called its chosen one.
Still happy, still alive, and kicking strong,
Ready to teach the students where they belong.

To give them learning is my ultimate goal,
To bring a chilling vibe that feeds the soul.
I will stay beautiful through every stage,
And radiate with grace as I grow in age.
